    Lemon Blackberry Pound Cake

Does anyone know why pound cake is actually called pound cake? let me give you a hint, or better yet an explanation. Back in the day one pound of each ingredient was used to make it. One pound of butter, sugar, eggs, and flour. This produces a dense cake with very little leavening (rising). This week I decided to make a traditional style pound cake with lemon and blackberry flavoring! For a delicious glaze on the top I used Limoncello that came straight from my cousin in Italy! Lemon Blackberry Pound Cake Ingredients: 1 pound of softened butter 1 Pound sugar 1 pound eggs 8 oz AP flour 8oz Self-rising…

    Matcha Ice Cream

I had some matcha in the cupboard left from some house guests and I decided to use it up! Why not make some matcha ice-cream. My problem is I love art, but not as much as I love the idea of instant gratification; meaning I’m SUPER impatient. With this recipe after you have baked your cookies and cooled them you make your royal icing and your flood icing (watered down royal icing) that will spread onto the cookie to create a nice clean canvas for decorating. Use your regular icing to make a border around your cookie so that your flood icing does not drip onto the sides. Let this harden…

Getting The Job, That Wasn’t My Dream Job

With much hard work and some summer classes I became eligible to graduate early. I figured I would get a leg up on my competition; the swarm of college students all fighting for the same thing… a job. With the hope of paying off those dreadful high interest loans. I started the job hunt in early October. Daily I was scoping out the Boston Chef website as well as may other job hunter outlets. My resume was up to date; my cover letters were tweaked to make sure each hiring manager knew why I should be their next employee. I would check my e-mail daily, no hourly, lets be real,…
