FoodNetwork Star?

 

 
Like always I have been so busy lately, so I am using my time on the plane to catch up on my blogging. About a month ago I was contacted by a woman on my gourmetbae Instagram. She told me that she was trying to get in touch with me, but couldn’t locate any of my contact information. She told me that she was casting a show for the foodnetwork, and that she loved my pictures, and would be interested in meeting with me. In this day and age I was totally skeptical because there are so many crazies out there. I told my friends and family about it and they told me to reach out to her. You have to pretend as if it is legit until someone proves you otherwise. I contacted the lady and she gave me more information about the competition. From there we set up a Skype interview, which would be recorded and sent off to the foodnetwork! How exciting! 
The funny thing is I’m pretty shy, and really not competitive at all. I’m the kind of person that if you see someone lagging I would rather help them out instead of watching them fail.
Well, I had my Skype interview and was told that the whole processes was ” totally legit” and that if I was chosen I would be flying out within the next two weeks and I would be filming for two weeks. I figured I had a shot because the casting lady mentioned that I would be one of the youngest people in the competition. After the interview I was asked to send a few more photos of myself, more photos of my work as well as a video of me in the kitchen. 

After a few days I started getting the feeling that I had not been chosen. I was a little not upset than I thought I would be considering I didn’t know even audition for this, I was scouted. About a week later I received an email saying that at this time I had not been chosen for the competition, although my profile would be on file of anything came up. 

All in all from this experience I have learned that social media is a powerful tool if used correctly. It is a great way to positively get your name out there, and it is a way of making your dreams come true.  

This has also taught me to be proud of even the smallest accomplishments. Eventhough I wasn’t chosen, people are looking at my work, and they are impressed, and that should count for something!
